Call for papers

The study day brings together researchers, doctoral students, teacher educators, inspectors, and practitioners around educational innovations born of constraint, and their effects on inclusion.

Who can submit?

Researchers, doctoral students, teacher educators, inspectors, and education practitioners from Africa and beyond. Proposals may draw on empirical research, the analysis of interventions, documented practice-based experience, or theoretical reflection grounded in constrained contexts.

Thematic strands

Researchers, doctoral students, teacher educators, inspectors, and practitioners are invited to submit papers on one of the four strands below.

Strand 1

Teaching and Learning under Constraint

Large classes, multigrade classrooms, remediation, low-cost formative assessment, national languages, and active pedagogies.

Strand 2

Digital Technology, AI, and Frugal Innovation

Radio, mobile phones, offline resources, and generative AI: actual uses, accessibility, effects on learning, and risks of a digital divide.

Strand 3

Vulnerable Groups and Inclusive Education

Learners with disabilities, girls, displaced and refugee children, rural and nomadic populations; schooling in times of crisis.

Strand 4

Training, Supporting, and Steering

Initial and in-service teacher training, supervision, inspection, governance, school–community partnerships; evaluating and scaling up innovations.
